1813

Birth of “Seth Thomas Clock Company”

Seth Thomas began making clocks in 1813 when the area was still known as Plymouth Hollow. Decades later, the business was officially incorporated as The Seth Thomas Clock Company.

1875

Thomaston Becomes a Town

Plymouth Hollow, once a village in Plymouth, officially becomes incorporated as its own town in 1875. The town was named Thomaston after the dedicated clock maker Seth Thomas.

1884

Thomaston Opera House Opens

Built on the old Northbury buiring grounds. The Thomaston Opera House was designed by Waterbury based architect Robert Hill.

Soldier’s Monument Dedicated

Thomaston celebrates 100 years of township! A massive parade marched down Main Street in celebration of the milestone.
